STEVI-LEE ALVER

Stevi-Lee Alver is a queer writer based in Northern NSW. She studied Creative Writing at Southern Cross University, where she received the 2015 Excellence in the Arts award. On exchange, at the University of Massachusetts, she won the 2014 Class of 1940 Creative Writing Award for poetry.

In 2014 she received the Questions Writing Prize for young Australians, which was awarded at the Melbourne Writers Festival where she was interviewed on the Future Voices panel. She received the Angelo B. Natoli Short Story Award at the 2015 FAW National Literary Awards. In 2018, she won the Untwine me Australia’s New Beginnings Poetry Contest. She also received a commendation in the 2017 Australian Book Review Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize; second place in the 2017 Melbourne Poets Union International Poetry Competition, and a commendation in the 2019 Ballina for Refugees Poetry Prize.
